Piaget College of Education, Abeokuta, introduces our Professional Diploma in Education (PDE) Course. This is a unique opportunity for holders of Bachelors, Masters, Doctoral and Higher National Diploma (B.A; M.A; PhD & HND) to acquire knowledge and skills in, not only General Education, but also in their specialised fields. Our Professional Diploma in Education (PDE) offers practice and skills directly needed, and mandated by the government, in the teaching/learning process. We offer a PDE program based on the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria’s guidelines (TRCN). Inductees sit for the TRCN qualifying examination at the end of the course.
Professional Diploma in Education
Professional Diploma in Education (PDE) at Piaget College of Education, Abeokuta, is a certificated post graduate programme required by the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) and government for holders of Bachelors, Masters, Doctoral and Higher National Diploma Degrees (BSc / B.A, MSc / M.A, PhD & HND) who wish to be teachers but do not possess teaching qualification. The PDE is an internationally acclaimed programme with rich content, flexible in mode of delivery, allowing for specialisation for teachers at the various levels of the Education system.

General Requirements
General criteria admission are follow:
- A candidate who holds a first degree (or above) in a relevant teaching subject from an NUC accredited university in Nigeria or a recognized overseas university;
- A Candidate who possesses an HND (not below lower credit pass) in one of the teaching subjects at credit level.
Specific Requirements
- A candidate must possess such credit passes at Senior Secondary Level that
are related to the teaching subject. - A pass in Piaget’s English Proficiency Test.
Course Structure
Weekend Programme : Fridays 2:30—7pm; Saturdays 8—4pm.
Induction of registered candidates into Teaching Profession by TRCN is carried out at the point of graduation.

Duration of Course
The duration for the programme is one academic session which comprises of two Semesters for course work plus a Semester for Teaching Practice and Student Project making a total of three semesters.
In the event of failure (or other justifiable reasons to cause extension), the candidate shall have an additional session of two semesters to remedy such problems. At the end of the second session, the studentship shall be deemed to have lapsed if the student could not complete the programme.
NOTE: Teaching Practice is conducted in student’s school except here a student is not a teaching staff in any school.
Academic Programmes
The PDE Academic Programme shall consist of core courses, required courses and electives. Students shall pass at least 47 units made up of the following: 6 units of Teaching Practice, 4 units of Project, 2 units of Micro-Teaching, 19 units of core courses. 8 units of required and 8 units of elective. Required courses must be taken and passed.
